My name is Darlene and I live on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the West Indies. I am a plantain farmer
I have noticed that I have slugs and borers in the bodies of some of my plantains. Of course I see them when cutting down the tree after fruiting. Our Agriculture Dept. recommends the use of chemicals to kill pest problems here that I do not consider safe.
These borers are Black Weevils and tend to make the body of the plant weak and the plantain bunches smaller by some 30 percent. All my gardening is done organically.
Please let me know if you can supply me with something to control the weevils and…of course the slugs are a problem too. Also please advise me if your products are safe for organic farmers.
Most of the products we have listed on our site have been created for people like you; organic growers and farmers. The OMRI Listed products are the ones you can apply and stay in compliance with current organic growers guidelines. We attempt to carry only products which have been “listed” so what you find on our site should be Ok for you to use on your farm.
